Today was perfect for some yard projects. The weather is a cool 75 degrees, Holly and Noah are in Costa Rica and the courier biz is really slow today with the holiday weekend approaching.
So I decided to tackle some projects around the house. First order of business was to do the dishes and clean the oven to avoid stinkage. Once that was out of the way, I went outside to enjoy the beautiful weather while doing some yard stuff.
Number one project was to cut our 100 foot hose down to about 15 feet. Who needs 100 foot hose for a 10x20 foot yard? Where is the fire? Ridiculous. Then I finally screwed on the hose holder to the front of the house and wrapped the hose on it. Much better. I also removed a couple of plants that had passed away recently. :( Then I watered the front and back garden to prevent further destruction. It has been a solid 95 to 100 degrees around here for at least a couple of weeks.
A couple from church (the Monson's) came and planted these awesome flowers in Holly's flower bed just because they are so nice. It's looking fanatastico! Holly put in the perrenials that line the back of the garden.
Holly's garden in the back is really gorgeous. I had my doubts about it before she put it in, but it is doing really well and it looks great. It's a great addition to the backyard. I trimmed back a few of the plants that were growing out of control like the lettuce, parsley, cilantro, and the tomato plant which was approaching 8 feet tall.
We harvested our first tomato today. I gave it to Olga and Kenny next door. It was a beauty. From the looks of it, we're going to have more than we can handle.
The last little project was to finish off the pathway in the backyard. Holly had already dug out all of the squares and laid the first gravel layer for the stones. All that was left was to pull out each stone and put one more layer of fine sand down to level out the stones. We've been procrastinating this project for a good couple of months. The weather has been very undesirable plus Noah isn't too fond of us tackling projects that don't involve pushing him on the swing or chasing the ball that he throws into the parking lot. Anyway, here is Holly's pathway completed!
